The course will cover the          following:


  1.   establishing mind-body connection through cultivating awareness of breath and body sensations


  1.   series of yogic postures (asanas) that  are held for a period of time to allow for gradual  physical and energetic release


  1.   awareness  and opening of chakras (energy centres) and work with corresponding mental , emotional and spiritual affirmations


  1.   pranayama (conscious  yogic breathing)


  1.   mudra (conscious yogic gestures)

Chakra Yoga on Sundays

        

Dear Friends!


You are invited to join me for this new 8 sessions  course starting on October 9, 2011.


Over the course of  8 Sunday sessions we will work in a small yoga group to explore 7 chakras (energy centres).


Each chakra has a unique vibration and associated physical, psychological and spiritual meanings, which will be explored during our practice.  We will mindfully create a possibility of opening in each chakra by using

yoga asanas (postures), breath (pranayama), sound (music and chanting) and  intentions/affirmations.


This class is particularly suited for those who are interested in spiritual aspects of yoga and mind/body practice.  


Each yoga asana is approached with care and compassion, with full awareness of breath and body sensations.  We will hold each pose for a period of time, so that we can fully appreciate its subtle effect on the flow of energy in our body, as well as allow our body enough time to begin a process of opening. We will also explore a number of breath techniques (pranayamas) to further deepen our experience in yoga asanas, to energize and calm the mind and body and to move us closer to the state of bliss and balance.


Dates:   8 sessions starting on October 9, 2011 (except for Nov 27 and Oct 23)

Time:     Sundays, 10am-12pm

Fee:   early bird - $130 (if payed before September 29), regular fee  is $150

Preference is given to those who can attend full course, however a small number of drop-in attendants (drop-in fee is $15) may be accommodated -please enquire.

Prerequisites:   curiosity about yoga- no previous experience is necessary. 


This class will provide learning opportunities for both, novice and experienced students.
